Just ignore it. If people can't be bothered putting effort into the messages they send to you, they're probably not going to be worth your time. I've had it happen to me on other forums and they make for abysmal roleplaying partners.

@Zayk But if you're just starting a conversation. Plus, I see it more as a humorous way of starting a conversation. I don't get why it seems to be such a big deal.

@Zayk I agree, it only really shows how little effort they are putting into things. Whilst I normally just ignore PM's like that, but this time I just felt I really should say something. It's a really bad way to try to get someone to roleplay with you.

@Papa Emeritus III It's not a big deal... it's the lack of one that's the problem. There's absolutely nothing appealing about someone that messages people with "Hello, want to RP?" without some context, pleasantries, or engaging substance. It also indicates a crappy roleplayer. Someone that's unable to pull their weight, and wants me to initiate all the interactions, ideas, developments.

@Zayk since I have no other way of saying so anyways I might aswell say it. the PM in question WAS by me. And it was simply a "Herro!" Not necessarily the "quest" of finding an RP partner. Simply trying to start a conversation. If someone doesn't want me to talk to them, they could just aswell say it.

@Papa Emeritus III Oh... well... this is awkward. Not interested in starting a brawl, so I'll just state that "Hello" is not a conversation starter. And I'd personally consider it spam. If you want to talk to someone, the best thing to do is to have a topic you think might catch their interest. Or at least something worthwhile they can respond to. /Leaves

Hell yeah I'm Scooby-Doo >D !!! I'll write you a gosh darn novela with zany antics and demand treats as a reward for my efforts in the form of sass, comedy, and maybe a lil horror sprinkled in there! I agree though there is nothing more frustrating than a lazy partner. Some people are autobots and some are decepticons and figuring out is part of the process. Sorry for your bad experience!

... you know, I have received ‘herro’s before, and this is the first time I’ve ever noticed the connection to Scooby-Doo ... Never thought about it like that before. Now, whenever I read ‘herro’, it’s going to be read aloud in my head with Scooby’s voice. Cannot unhear now.

I will admit, I didn't expect this status to get so much attention. I will admit, the only time I feel a simple 'hello' suffices in a message is on chat apps, and with people I know. When I get a message including only "Hello" as a first message from someone, I don't feel any motivation to getting to know the person. Though by the looks of the attention this status is getting, I'm not the only one xD
