I know the feeling. Either writer's block or burn out from writing too much can take effect on how one thinks their skill either improved or have become lacking.
It does seem to be a common occurrence! I haven't had much writer's block, but I am familiar with burnout. Thankfully, I am coming back fresh without any of that for now. I was listening to some videos, and they mention that not writing can cause a lack of improvement. i I think some want to think they can do better so they need to improve.
I constantly feel like my writing isn't good enough...I'm doing my best to improve, too. Definitely not easy but I'm glad I've found partners who are pretty patient ^.^
I can't say I have gone backward because if that were the case, my partners would suffer with one-word responses! That would be anyone's nightmare. I am getting back into the swing of being on here and having someone to write with, so it is the start. I haven't had anyone comment my writing is so horrible so I can count that as good!
I know that feeling! I was in a special ed class as I struggled with learning, and English was where I dropped. I would not have graduated if I had not passed a writing exam, and my teachers would have had to allow me to graduate, but I did pass. I still am not that impressive. No one has told me their opinions on my writing, so I do no know if they like it. I go with the flow!
Everyone learns and improves at their own pace. The more you write, the better you get, but even taking a break can mean coming back with a fresh perspective. A lot of what is good or bad is pretty subjective, too, so don't feel discouraged to approach people who you think you might vibe with!! Being open to constructive criticism is nice and all, but don't let anyone put you or your writing down C:
