Not cool imo. Artist learn their craft and take a lot of time to do it. I’m not a fan of ai, but what makes this different from people using ai to write?

It’s not different at all, but we are writers so we don’t see it that way when it comes to a skill we don’t have. People using ai to do anything art related is terrible bc how does ai do all those things? Stealing. That’s how.

It learns what’s on the Internet and meshes it all together. So technically you’re stealing when you ask ai to do anything like that. Plus water is a finite resource. One question to ai is so many water bottles. (end)

So what do you do for a reference of your character that you're role-playing as? I'd love to commission an artist but afraid of the character being wasted if the rp doesn't go well or even start at all. To me that's a waste of money...though it does support the artist...it's just hard for me to justify to expense.

Personally, I've started to embrace AI generated images. I acknowledge the moral issues that come with it's usage, it's convenient, quick, and not costing the artists anything as I would never have commissioned an artist for the the image anyway. (I say this as someone that regularly commissions art).

More notably, the aversion to it's usage is stupid, as we've all been 'stealing' art for face-claims since the dawn of online RP'ing (99.9% without permission or creditting the artist). Using AI images is no more wrong than grabbing something off google-images/pintrest, downloading music you haven't paid for, or streaming something an anime/show for free. It's mainly just people stuck on a moral high horse.

There’s a lot of different stances and arguments with ai, but at the end of the day, imo, using it so regularly and without caution will only make things worse for creators in the future, along w other jobs and our environment.

There are “authors” out there letting ai write books and getting published. There are “artist” out there being commissioned and the person paying money is getting ai generated images. If there are people against the usage of ai in one form, why is it okay in another?

But most things around ai is dangerous and being mindful of the impact it leaves outside of what you want at the moment isn’t a terrible thing. I have used ai before instead of just googling stuff, but now I don’t, so I can see both sides of it.

I’m not saying not to use art, I just don’t use or support ai to generate any myself. Those are just some of my opinions. You can do what you like!

I just dont want to inadvertently hurt anyone in any way... i have never claimed another's artwork as my own, just a reference for portraying my characters look.

I'd love to just willy nilly commission artists to make many characters, unfortunately art isnt cheap for the level of quality I prefer. I've tried different OC creator sites and apps and I'm sad to say the quality and variety is limited, which i completely understand that those require more than artistic skill and money.

The images I have done generated, I've tried searching the artists that have the style that was stolen, but have turned up with nothing. All I know is that it is a type of painted anime.
