I feel like I'm being baited. I've already written essays on the topic. But at the end of the day it's less about what people don't like, and more about what people want. If you want to insist on playing switches, one thing you could do is work more on conveying a clear explanation of what you offer AFTER considering what other people may want.

I don't take issues with switches, but I’m solely a top / seme, so there’s a lack of compatibility in that regard, since switching it up isn’t my cup of tea. I won’t even temporarily bottom

@Raika Baited? I mean, I don't read essays here so. I dunno. I mean, I've been rping for like 20 years, and it's not like this is a new thing by any means, I'm probably just noticing it more because the site isn't as active as it was like 10 yrs ago - that and I've been gone for like a year and I'm just barely trying to come back to rping again.

@Intoxic I mean, that's very fair. I've also played strict bottoms and strict tops before, and it's usually so hard to find someone unless you specifically advertise yourself as a top. Honestly, I'm probably just in a bad mood because I had a little bit of a panic attack earlier today at class.

Don't mind me then, I'm giving myself more credit than I deserve xD My dislike of switches (and more specifically Seke's) used to be pretty well known. But yeah as you said it's a matter of the community shrinking. Others probably have a better idea, but it's like that for everyone I think, even Seme's don't get as much attention as people like to think.

Ja. I make sure to specify that I’m strictly a top (and a dom top as well, never sub), and tack on that I’m not a switch nor bottom, no matter what—essentially ensuring it’s emphasized. However, I still have received a couple requests before to be a switch, which annoyed me, since I’m very specific that I am not and won’t be a switch.

@Raika Ah, well that's fair. Huh, interesting. It definitely used to be that if you said you were a seme your inbox would be flooded by ukes. Like, I said, I've been gone for a while, and I remember really only getting attention when I said that I'd seme for people.

@Intoxic Oh yeah, it can be absolutely frustrating when someone asks you to do something you specify you don't wanna do - I've definitely been there before. Specifically said I didn't want any weight fetishism, and FIRST POST, they very sexually describe the weight of my character. like wtf? Stop.

Gather round children and I will tell you a tale from the days of old!! Back in the day there was a period of people saying they played seke/switches but it was a lot of bait and switch. People saying they do both only for their character to be a sub/bottom/uke. It caused a lot of headaches and people stopped trusting those who said they switch. I call this part of yd history.....the great seke wars.

You forgot to mention the involvement of the great preachers and righteous lawmakers. Aka the advocates who insisted that "All gay men are Seke's so Switches are more realistic (better)" and the people who insisted that it was more "fair". I even had a Seke insist I play a Seke cause it was more fair.... despite them having a preference to bottom and me having a preference to top...

Okay, yeah no, that's crazy. lol. I genuinely like doing both, but it really depends for me depending on my partner.

Honestly, I think my first comment here can really be shirked up to me being in a grumpy mood and taking it too personally when people aren't interested in my characters or plots >/////< I get way too attached to my boys.

I know only liking playing a bottom isn't ideal. Then add my being a fandom whore. But it is what it is lol

Slim pickings, means we all need to be more tolerant and learn to compromise!

Your standards are fine. Standards mean you still care. Don't listen to the people who tell you to lower your standards.

I suppose I can come in as someone who has a preference to play submissive Uke characters. Sorry about the incoming spam, character limit is too small here xD Though I feel like I've lost my flow of thought needing to shorten things xD
